Look Who Is Pinching WA’s GST?

According to the Commonwealth Grants Commission, and recently published in ‘The Australian’, it seems that WA is drawing the short straw when it comes to GST!

 * * *

For every ONE dollar taxed, here is the breakdown of how much GST is returned, dependant on your location:

NSW: 87.7 cents
VIC: 93.2 cents
QLD: $1.188
WA: 34.4 cents
SA: $1.44
TAS: $1.805
ACT: $1.195
NT: $4.66
Average: $1

Statistics like these make us wonder… How can a public servant town like Canberra get $1.195 back for every $1 in GST collected?

The difference between WA’s small cut of 34.4 cents and the Northern Territory’s huge $4.66 seems unfair to us!
